Alok Vaid-Menon, a gender non-conforming performance artist, writer, educator, and entertainer, challenges the notion of a static gender. Particularly, their collection of poems titled Femme in Public exploring how to celebrate transfemininity in public always. They discuss how their femininity is experienced and performed differently across various borders of culture, time, space, and relationships.
Prior to their performance later in the day, Alok will join the center for an hour-long Out for Lunch session where they will talk a little bit more about themselves and their work. Join us at the center for some wonderful conversation, company, and talent!
